Charlotte Robertson was the daughter of Alexander Robertson and Margaret Robinson (The Kentucky Encyclopedia, edited by John E. Kleber, p 776, about her brother George). She was the second wife of Governor Robert Perkins Robertson of Goochland Co., VA. They had no known children together. Her brother was Kentucky Congressman George Robertson (1790 - 1874).

Death of Mrs. Governor Letcher. Mrs. Charlotte Letcher, widow of ex-Governor Robt. P. Letcher, died at her residence in this city last Wednesday evening, at eight o'clock, aged 87 years. She had been in good health until Monday evening, at which time she took tea with Mr. John B Bibb, on the ninetieth anniversary of his birthday. Tuesday afternoon she was troubled with a cough, and took a small dose of what she supposed was powdered alum, but which proved to be arsenic. She was taken ill in a few hours afterward, and rapidly grew worse until she died. She removed to this city in 1840 with her husband when he was elected Governor, and had grown old in our midst, universally loved and respected by all who knew her, and her death is deeply regretted by the entire community. He was elected to Congress in 1823, succeeding John Speed Smith, and continued a member of that body until 1833. In 1840 he was elected Governor, appointed Minister to Mexico in 1849, and died in 1861. Upon his election as Governor he removed to Frankfort, which continued to be his residence until his death. Mrs. Letcher was a lady who, in her prime, was conspicuous equally for her accomplishment of mind and grave of person, adorning every station in which she was called by the prominence of her distinguished husband.
