German Ace. Knights Cross Holder. Born in Ruthweiler in the Pfalz, he served in Jagdgeschwader 77 on the Eastern Front in 1942 and in North Africa from December 1942 until his death. He had 54 kills, all but the last three on the Eastern Front. He was killed in aerial combat with US P-38s over Giordani, Libya, flying a Bf 109 G-2 marked "Yellow 7." He was awarded the Iron Cross First and Second Class, the Luftwaffe Honor Cup, the German Cross in Gold, and the Knight's Cross on October 15th 1942.
