Architect. Mendel Meyer was partners with Philip W. Holler in an American architecture firm that was noted for its opulent commercial buildings and movie theatres built during the 1910s and 1920s. The firm of Meyer & Holler, also known as The Milwaukee Building Company which was established in 1905 in Los Angeles as a design and construction firm, was one of the most esteemed and sought-after architectural teams, designing theaters, apartment buildings, hotels, banks, and churches. Among their most well-known projects are the Mount Washington Hotel and Inn in Los Angeles in 1909, the Culver Studios, Culver City in 1919, Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and Hollywood Athletic Club in 1922, Fox Cabrillo Theatre in San Pedro in 1923, Fox Fullerton Theater in1924, Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in 1926, First National Bank of Hollywood in 1927, Hillcrest Motors in Hollywood in 1929 and the Ocean Center Building in Long Beach in 1929. A number of Meyer & Holler buildings are now on the National Register of Historic Places.
