CROWN POINT/TICONDEROGA — Marion Celia (Boyd) Trainor, 87, of Ticonderoga and formerly of Crown Point, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare of Ticonderoga.

Born in Peru, N.Y., March 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Bertha P. (Marrow) Boyd.

Marion married Walter Trainor on July 30, 1949. She then moved to Crown Point, where she was a resident for many years, prior to moving to Ticonderoga.

Mrs. Trainor was a graduate of The State University of New York at Potsdam, where she received her teaching degree. Her teaching career began in the Crown Point Central School System, where she taught Elementary English and Music for many years before transferring to the Ticonderoga School System. Mrs. Trainor was very proud of her students accomplishments in music, and several followed in her footsteps at the Crane School of Music at the University of Potsdam.

Mrs. Trainor was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. She was also a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association.

One of Marion's enjoyments was spending time with her husband at their camp on Paradox Lake for more than 40 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Trainor on November 13, 1999.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Bassett of Peru; her nieces and nephews, Candace Bassett Wagner, Ricky Bassett, Harry Bassett II, and Denise Bassett; and numerous friends and acquaintances in Ticonderoga and around the country.

At her request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Scott Tyler, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Forest Dale Cemetery of Crown Point.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's memory may be made to the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, P.O Box 265, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.
