He was born Sept. 27, 1950, in Mansfield to Jack E. and Dorothy A. (née Reiner) Spayde. He graduated from Lucas High School, where he lettered in football and track.
Brent worked as a machinist at Custom Hoists in Hayesville for about 30 years and operated his farm, raising cattle and horses.
He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, bringing horses to the Fall Festival every year for the children to ride.
Brent was active in Boy Scouts and Indian Guides, and with his children in 4-H.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (née Coffman) Spayde of Lucas; children, Shana (Josh) (née Spayde) Keller of Lexington, Lukas (Kristie) Spayde of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jackson, Max and Ariah Keller; his mother, Dorothy Spayde of Lucas; siblings, Tami (Bill) Backensto of Lucas, Blake Spayde and Kathy Edwards of Mansfield, and Tracey (Michael) Oswalt of Mount Vernon; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Scott of Perrysville.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Karen and Bryan Spayde and Tecca Jo Scott; and grandparents, Herb and Edna Spayde, and Pete and Elizabeth Reiner.
Friends may visit with family 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at Westside Baptist Church, 3720 W. Fourth St., Mansfield, and one hour prior to the funeral, which will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Pastor Joe Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
