The Reverend Gus Buttram, 92, of Haleyville, Ala., died December 29, 2005. Funeral services were held December 31, 2005, at Maxwell Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial following in the adjoining cemetery. Buttram was a United Methodist Church pastor for 62 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Morris McDaniel Buttram, his parents, Wilson McDaniel Buttram and Mary Emmett Maxwell Buttram, four brothers, John Buttram, Robert Corry Buttram, Pat Buttram, and Charles Buttram, and two sisters, Peggy Mauldin, and Mamie Burdick. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, a sister, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
