LACONIA — V. Constance Estey, 81, of 123 Dartmouth St., died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the Hillsboro County Nursing Home after a period of failing health.
Born in Kittery, Maine, on Oct. 26, 1920, she was the daughter of Haven T. and Mary (Bray) Fernald. She graduated from Traip Academy, in Kittery, Maine, with the Class of 1937, at the age of 16.
She was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in industrial relations. She followed this with employment at the former Pease Air Force Base and at RAF Lakin Heath in the United Kingdom and retired in 1983 from the U.S. Army Garrison, Arlington Hall Station, in Arlington, Va., as chief of the Management-Employee Relations Branch. In recognition of her service to the Department of the Army, she received the Commanders Award for civilian service.
She was predeceased by her husband, Quentin R. Estey Sr., in February of 1992.
She leaves behind three sons, --- Estey of Laconia,--- Estey of Manchester, and --- Estey. of Peterborough; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
