Mr. Charles Herbert Hooker age 83 of Mount Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Lucille Leftwich Hooker passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Gaithersburg, MD. He was born November 30, 1928 in Patrick County, VA to the late Merritt Howard and Lou Ada Goins Hooker. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was retired from the Mt. Airy School System and gave over twenty years of service to Pike Electric. Mr. Hooker was a member of the Shelton Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Leftwich Hooker of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Kay Hooker, Gaithersburg, MD and Jon and Fay Hooker, Mount Airy, NC and six grandchildren Haley Hooker and Anna Lindamood of Mount Airy, NC., and Jessica, Matthews, Lauren, and Erin Hooker all of Gaithersburg, MD., and a sister, Patsy Smith, Claudville, VA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ted Turner. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 10:00 am Wednesday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shelton Church of the Brethren Benevolence Fund, 1065 Quaker Rd. Mount Airy, NC. 27030.
