Mrs. Lou Riley Syler, 81, died Friday afternoon at the home of her son, M. H. Syler of Shady Grove community, following a long illness.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Methodist Church. The Rev. D. R. Poole officiated. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Syler was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. Her parents were Thomas and Mary Smith Riley.
She was the widow of W. I. Syler, former member of Lincoln County Court, who died in 1945. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J. Noles, Belvidere, Mrs. L. M. Jeans of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. C. J. Stovall, Whiting, Indiana, Mrs. Ben McCormick and Mrs. Bonnie Clark, both of Lincoln County; three other sons, in addition to M. H. Syler of Shady Grove, I. R. Syler of Crescent City, California, Billy Syler of Chicago, Illinois, and Beula Syler of Crown Point, Indiana; a sister, Mrs. N. A. Farris of Fort McCoy, Florida; a brother, George Riley of Bakersfield, California; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Rites Conducted At Shady Grove Sunday For Mrs. Lou Rettie Syler --
Mrs. Lou Rettie Syler, 81, died last Friday afternoon at the residence of her son, M. H. Syler.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Shady Grove Methodist Church. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Syler was a native of Lincoln County. Her husband, W. I. Syler, was a former member of the Lincoln County Court. He died in 1945. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
