Obituary
James T. Barnett, whose death occurred January 5th, 1911 was born in Adams county, Indiana, May 4, 1863. He was married to Alice Stinston in Harrison county, Missouri, on December 26, 1886. To this union was born six children, five girls and one boy, who were all present during the sickness and death of their father. He also leaves a faithful wife, four sisters and three brothers with many relatives and friends who mourn his loss.
He was converted at an early age and united with the United Brethern church and later was received into the Methodist church. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a faithful companion, and during health was ever ready to lend a helping hand in caring for the sick and needy. He had been greatly afflicted for several years but patiently bore his sufferings and was ready to answer when the Lord called him.
He was greatly devoted to his home. Home was the dearest spot on earth to him and it is there they miss him most. This world indeed seems empty and cheerless without the companion and father.
The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning by Rev. D. S. Brown of the Presbyterian church and the remains were laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery in this city.

"Our dear Husband and Papa, how we loved him
None can never, never tell,
But the Blessed Angel called him
And he doeth all things well.
He was the sunshine of our home
Now all is dark and drear;
It is hard to part with one
Who was so dear
But though we miss him sadly,
Our loss has been his gain;
He is now among the blood-washed
In a world that's free from pain.
And we hope and pray to meet him
When our work on earth is o'er;
Oh the joy of the meeting,
Over on the other shore."
