Moved to Michigan in 1829.....grad of Middlebury College, Townshend, Vermont. He was a friend of Daniel Webster (Webster's Dictionary) and asked Daniel Webster if he could name the town of Webster, Michigan after him.....He was in the Vermont Assembly 1816-21 as a Whig...Mason...lawyer. He walked around with a knapsack on back.....He helped organize the Congregational Church in Webster, Michigan and was the founder of Washtenaw Mutual Insurance Company.
