US Army Brigadier General. After graduating West Point as an Artillery officer, he served in the Philippines and later on the Punitive Expedition into Mexico. During World War I as a Lieutenant Colonel, he went to France as the Commander of the 15th Field Artillery, serving from 1917-18. He was also Chief of Staff of the Hawaiian Division in 1926 at the rank of Colonel. Promoted to Brigadier General in 1933, he commanded the 11th Field Artillery Brigade from 1934-37. He retired from the Army in 1939 after commanding the 3rd Division. In retirement, he was very involved in the community activities of Pacific Grove, California and even formed a Civilian Defense organization during World War II. He died unexpectedly at age 68 and was buried with full military honors.
