First Principal of the Danbury (Connecticut) State Normal School (1904-1923), now Western Connecticut State University. Graduate of Berwick Academy at South Berwick, Maine and of Dartmouth College, AB in 1889 and AM in 1892. In 1889 was the Principal of the Berwick (Maine) High School. Next went to the Gunnery Boys Preparatory School in Washington, Connecticut where he taught mathematics and coached the baseball team. From 1893 till 1894 studied theology at the Hartford (Connecticut) Theological Seminary. Became a member of the faculty at the New Britain (Connecticut) High School. In 1899 became the Principal of the Danbury (Connecticut) High School. Was a leader in the effort to open a State Normal School in Danbury, Connecticut and was the first Principal of the Danbury State Normal School when it opened in 1904 until his death in 1923. One of the first Connecticut State Supervisors of Rural Schools.
