David enlisted in the Marines 27 September 1963 in Los Angeles, with Bob Villarreal, his best friend. David was living with his mother and siblings in Huntington, California.
David arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. David died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the back of the neck from incoming hostile mortar fire, at Danang Air Base.

He was single and served his country for two years and was KIA #2,462.
