Philadelphia Inquirer, Saturday, January 30, 1864:
DECEASE OF WM. W. HEPBURN
Wm. W. Hepburn, Esq., Cashier of the First National Bank of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, died in that place on Tuesday morning, in the twenty-ninth year of his age, after an illness of ten days. Mr. Hepburn was a resident of Philadelphia, where he acquired a knowledge of the banking business, being connected with the Farmers' and Mechanics' Bank. While clerking in this institution he won the respect and esteem of all with whom he had transactions, and by his urbanity, Christian virtues and upright dealings, deservedly had the confidence of the President and Directors. Mr Hepburn was the second son of the Hon. Judge Samuel Hepburn, of Carlisle, a gentleman well known in our city as one of the ablest and most successful lawyers in the State of Pennsylvania.
