Betty Jo McAulay, 83, a longtime Sand Springs resident, passed from this life on Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Tulsa, OK. She was born on March 31, 1929 to Hurchel and Mable (Sheridan) Murrell in Cushing, OK.
Mrs. McAulay grew up and attended schools in Cushing before being united in marriage to Walter A. McAulay on February 8, 1953.
In her spare time she enjoyed making ceramics. Betty and Mac relished in the time spent together traveling in their RV. The enjoyed spending winters in south Texas and some highlight trips included visits to Arizona and southern California. She will be fondly remembered by her family as a fabulous cook.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, Hurchel and Mable Murrell; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Luther Hankins; and nephew, Bruce Hankins.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter (Mac) McAulay; sister, Phyllis Ramsey and husband Jim; brother Bobby Murrell and wife Carolyn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012. A funeral service honoring Betty's life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Mobley-Dodson Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
