Claud had his own car business very early in life and sold cars in Jasper AL for many years as did his father and all his brothers. After the death of his only son, he combined his car business and his son's (that in 1959 was called C.A. Crump Motor Co). He loved raising black Angus cattle and owned farms and real estate throughout Walker County. He especially loved taking his grandkids and their friends on hayrides, going to Florida on vacation and spending time with his family. His favorite TV shows were Perry Mason and the Tom Jones & Dean Martin variety shows.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Allie Mae, daughters Betty Hunter, Dean Jones Witherow and Annette Grissom. Nine grandchildren; Glenda, Allan & Mike Crump; Mona & Cindy Jones; Rhonda Hunter; Darenda, Kelly & Tammy Grissom and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry Clay and Missouri Posey-Crump; parents Wesley O. and Cennie Bell Russell-Crump; son Claude Allen Crump, Jr.; great grandson Jason Allan Crump; brother Hollis Crump and sisters Mertie Townley and Flora Crump.
Claud lost his life in a home invasion. He fought his murderers until the end. All were captured and sentenced for murder. A memorial stone is dedicated to his memory on the victim's fountain found at the city square in Jasper AL.
He was truly the head of our family. We miss him every day. Rest in peace, Booboo. We'll see you again in Heaven.
