Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. A native of Hartford, Connecticut, he served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 18th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on March 13, 1865 for "gallant and meritorious services during the war."
