Roman Catholic Saint. Also known as William of Aquitaine, he was born around 754 as son of Theodoricus (Thierry) of Autun and his wife Aldana. He died in 814 in the Abbey of Gellone (Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert) that he had founded. He was buried in the abbey and was canonized in 1066. His remains were scattered during the revolution. What remained of them was moved to the Basilica of Saint Sernin.
