WV Marriage Register∼Thomas Jefferson Harvey married Margaret "Mary" Handley Walker in Monroe county, West Virginia in 1828.
They started their family in Monroe county and then moved to Indiana and eventually settled in Adams county, Illinois. Altogether they had 9 children, listed with them in the 1850 census:
Mary Jane, James Madison (who became the fifth governor of Kansas), John Andrew, George Edward, Joseph Estes (who became a physician in Illinois), Martha Elizabeth, twins Winfield Scott and Zachary Taylor, and Emma Almeda.
Thomas and his wife died within a year or two of each other with the children ranging in age from 17-4.
It's unclear where he and his wife are buried, though it seems likely that it would be near Beverly, Illinois in Adams county.
Research continues to try to link up valid/verified sources for the parents of this Thomas Jefferson Harvey.
According to biographical information on his son, James Madison Harvey, at http://www.ksgenweb.org/archives/1918ks/bioh/harveyjm.html , Thomas' father was John Harvey (married to Lucy Estes) whose father in turn was a Henry Harvey who came to America from England around 1725 and settled in Orange county, Virginia.
There is a memorial for John E. Harvey (93834405) and Lucy Estes (116576890) on this site; however, the parent links there are to John and Margaret (Burke) Harvey and not Henry. Therefore, for the time being, parental links are left pending for this Thomas J. Harvey.
