The Zittle family also farmed in neighboring Morgan County, West Virginia, and was enumerated there in 1880. By the late 1880s, Jacob Zittle moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and eventually operated an insurance and real estate business; the latter included sales and mortgage lending.
Jacob D. Zittle and Jessie V. Wiles were married on 24 May 1893 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. The groom, age 30, resided in Omaha; the bride, age 26, resided in Hagerstown. The couple visited the Chicago World's Fair on their trip to Omaha.
The couple were the parents of one child, Ruth Malinda, born on 11 April 1894 in Omaha.
