About the mid-1860's, he was the Shelby-
ville jailer. He married Susan A.
Toombs on 23 Mar 1868 in Shelbyville,
KY. In 1870, he was living with his
sister, Mariah Isabella Thompson Atherton,
with his wife, and a dau, Mary. He was
predeceased in death by his son, Bennie.
He was survived by sons, James W. and
Phillip J. Thompson, a sheriff of Shelby-
ville.
