Edward I. Snipes, aged 73, well and beloved citizen of Marion, died at his home May 28, 1930.

Mr. Snipes familiarly known as "Ned" to his host of friends, had been in ill health for three years, and during the past four months had suffered a steady decline until Wednesday the Death Angel came and his soul went forth to meet his Maker.

He was married in 1878 to Joanna Porter Snipes, who preceeded him to the grave by three years.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. M. M. Byrd at the Spring Street Methodist Church, on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, after which the body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery in the presence of sorrowing relatives and friends.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. George H. Ikner, of Richmond, Va. and Messrs. Walter, Sumter and Olin Snipes, all of Marion.

To his bereaved loved ones and friends is extended the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
