Nobility and a Yorkist leader during the early parts of the Wars of the Roses. Born the third son of Ralph Neville Earl of Westmoreland and his second wife Joan Beaufort. He married Alice de Montacute sometime before February 1421 and succeeded his father-in-law (jure uxoris) as fifth Earl of Salisbury as well as 7th and 4th Baron Montacute. He was executed after the Battle of Wakefield. First buried at Pontefract and moved to Bisham where his son erected his effigy. This effigy is today at St Mary's Church, Burghfield, Berkshire.
