Prince elect of Denmark-Norway. His parents were king Christian IV of Denmark-Norway and queen Anna Cathrine von Brandenburg 1610 he was elected heir to the thrones of Denmark and Norway. The prince was more interested in wine and women than state-affairs. 1634 he married princess Magdalens Sibylla von Sachsen, daughter of Elector Johann Georg I von Sachsen. Their wedding was extremely expensive and is known as "the great Bilager". All courts of Europe were represented at the wedding. The prince died 1647 as a result of his alcoholic lifestyle. 1652 his wife remarried Duke Friedrich Wilhelm II von Sachsen-Altenburg.
