Clara Browning was married later to Jonathan Haralson in 1798. Inscription on the monument of Clara (Browning Culbertson) Haralson, LaGrange Cemetery in Troup County, Georgia reads: "In memory of Mrs. Clara Haralson, widow of Jonathan Haralson, late of Greene Co., Ga., deceased. She departed this life 1st day of March 1841, age 76 years. In the War of the Revolution, she labored in the fields to support the family while her brothers were engaged in the service of their country." The stone is signed by "H Fitzsimmons, Cherokee Co, Ga."

Information from book "Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia": Clara's father was John Browning (1728-1803) . John Browning was a REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER in Georgia. Page 76: "David Culbertson lived in Caswell Co., N. Car, Mar. Miss Clara Browning of Caswell Co., N. Car. Feb. 24, 1782 (from license) Farmer. David left Caswell Co., N. Car. Before 1790, as he does not appear on tax lists 1785, nor does he appear Census [for] S. Car.; Georgia Census 1790 destroyed. He moved to Georgia 1789. The Clerk of Court of Greene Co., Ga. writes me: "I find on deed records No. 1, p. 544, Jan. 18, 1790, a deed from John Cassna to David Culbertson for 400 acres, but cannot find any will or deed whereby he disposed of this, so there must be a will somewhere disposing of this land between 1790 and 1817." The deed above to David Culbertson in Jan., 1790, shows he was in Greene Co., Ga., when Census 1790 was taken (Census of Ga. destroyed by British in 1812). The family records show positively that his widow lived in Greene Co., Ga., at time of her second marriage to Jonathan Harrolson (Haralson). After his death his widow lived in Greene Co., Ga.

Haralson, in trust for use of my dau., Elizabeth Haralson, the wife of Elijah Haralson. Granddaughters: Betsy Ann, formerly Culbertson, now Conyers; Emily, formerly Culbertson, now Palmer. Mary Culbertson, daughter of my son, Isaac Culbertson, decd. Sons: James Culbertson, John Culbertson, David Culbertson, William P. Culbertson, Kinchin L. Haralson (for benefit of my granddaughter, Ann, formerly, Browning, now Lewis; Caroline Browning and Achsah Browning, daughters of my daughter, Eunice Browning), and Hugh A. Haralson. Exr: Son, Hugh A. Haralson. Wits: Hampton Hill, James L. Lewis, Thomas C. Brown." NOTE OF INTEREST: Hugh A. Haralson served as a US Congressman from Georgia. He was elected to represent Georgia's 4th District and as At-Large in the US House of Representatives, serving from 1843 to 1851. He also served in the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1831, and in the Georgia Senate in 1837.

HARALSON, Hugh Anderson, a Representative from Georgia; born near Penfield, Greene County, Ga., November 13, 1805; attended the common schools and was also instructed by private tutors; was graduated from Franklin College (now the University of Georgia) in 1825; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1825 and commenced practice in Monroe, Walton County, Ga.; moved to Lagrange, Troup County, Ga., in 1828, and continued the practice of law; also engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the State house of representatives in 1831 and 1832; served in the State senate in 1837 and 1838; served in the State militia as a Major General 1838-1850; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth, Twenty-ninth, Thirtieth, and Thirty-first Congresses (March 4, 1843-March 3, 1851); chairman, Committee on Military Affairs (Twenty-eighth and Twenty-ninth Congresses); was not a candidate for renomination in 1850; resumed the practice of law; died in Lagrange, Troup County, Ga. Died: September 25, 1854; interment in Hill View Cemetery, Lagrange, Troup County, Ga
