Professional Hockey Player. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Reay played for teams in the NHL, MJHL, WSRHL, AHA, CCSHL, WHL, QSHL, and the Al-Cup hockey leagues. At 5'07, and 155lbs, Reay played the position of Center for the St. Boniface Seals from 1936 to 1938, Winnipeg Hudson's Bay from 1937 to 1938, Calgary Stampeders from 1938 to 1939, Omaha Knights from 1939 to 1941, Detroit Red Wings from 1944 to 1945, Montreal Canadiens from 1945 to 1953, and the Victoria Cougars from 1953 to 1955. Reay was the recipient of the Byng of Vimy Trophy for Sportsmanship in the QSHL. Also a noted hockey coach, Reay was Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs for a couple of times in the 1950s, Seattle Americans from 1955 to 1956, Rochester Americans from 1956 to 1957, Buffalo Bisons from 1961 to 1963, and the Chicago Blackhawks from 1963 to 1977. Reay retired in 1977 and by that time he had coached 1,102 games and won 598 of them.
