M.R. Amick, 79, of Butler, formerly of Kansas City, died December 12, 1998, in Kansas City as a result of an automobile accident.

Graveside services were on December 16, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler.

M.R. Amick was born north of Calhoun and graduated valedictorian of Calhoun Class of 1937.

His father, Charles Edgar Amick, and mother, Leona Pearl Farmer Amick died in the 1930s, leaving M.R. and his brother, Howard, to be cared for by relatives.

He had been employed by Norris Grain Company and was a WORLD WAR II VETERAN of the ARMY AIR CORPS.

Mr. Amick is survived by his wife of 58 years having just celebrated their wedding anniversary on November 30, Alice Rosalie McGovern Amick, of the home; and brother, Howard D. Amick of St. Louis; several friends survive in Henry County and some relatives in Colorado.
