Notes
Ref 6116, 7565, 7574, 7576, 238, 9407 John Rinehart's given name "may come from Johann-Reinhard t III. Graf von Hanau - Lichtenberg, who was the lord of the luthe ran parish of Soultz until his death on the 28th of March 1736," according to Jean-Claude Streicher (e-mail, 15 Nov 1999). The entry in the church book for the death of Philip Reblog el, the father of John Rinehart Replogle, was written by John Rinehart Koenig, pastor. 11 Dec 1720: Godparents at the christening of Johannes Reinhard Reblogel were Reinhard Windus, saltbrewer of Soultz; Rudolph Spuri, shoemender of Soultz, not married; and Barbara Bochstatter [daughter of t he deceased miller from Hoffen], not married. (From Lutheran Church parish rec ords of Soultz Sous Forets, Alsace, France, now filed in the archives at Strasbourg, France.) The language of the family was German. For example, "Earl (Replogle) ...has a German bible with some records written by Chris Replogel ov er 100 years ago, in German long hand..." 8 Oct 1753, York Co, PA, near present-day Hanover, PA: Reinhard Reblagel m. Barbara Konig at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She was the dau of Abraham Konig (Koenig, King) who immigrated to America in 1751. 1759-1763: His son Rinehart (Jr.) is reported to be born at Berks Co., Pa., what is now Lancaster Co. PA, in 1759. But according to hi s age given in tax records at Bedford Co., PA, he was b. in 1763. 1764: According to family tradition and a county history, John Rinehart Replogle had fourteen children. But a possible additional c hild may be Anna Barbara Replogle, who m. Jacob Schreyer on 27 Aug 1764, a t York Co, PA, near present-day Hanover, PA, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Her surname was spelled Reblegel on the church record. If Anna Barbara was not a child of John Rine hart Replogle, then she could have been a close relative, such as John Rinehart 's sister. She is identified there in this genealogy of the family. 17 May 1767, York Co, PA: Maria Eva Reblogel christened ["d au of R einhardt and Barbara Reblogel"] at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at York Co., PA, near present-day Littlestown, Germany Twp, Ad ams Co., PA. 11 Apr 1770, Frederick Co MD: Bond for credit between John Rinehart Rippleogle and others, all of Frederick Co MD, farmers. "Anthony Havely, John Rinehart Rippleogle, Stephen Wible, John Welty, Philip Nell, Peter Coonce, John Grouce, all of Frederick County, Farmers, and Samuel Givings of Baltimore County, Gentlem(a)n, are held and firmly bound to Robert Co uden and John Clapham, Commissioners, for emitting bills of credit established by the act of Assembly of the Province of Maryland in the sum of 450 poun ds stirling to be paid to said commissioners ... bond for 450 pounds at rate mentioned in above act ... at 4 % per annum ... " "..None of the cosigners have names common in Frederick Co. -- except for Coonce (Koontz, Coons, etc.) and they may have comprised several families. A Peter Coonce estate was administered in Frederick Co in the 1780's, I have an index notation of it.. Welty also appeared frequently in the records.. On the 1790 census records Philip Nell and John Welty can be foun d in Frederick Co..It appears that the bond of 1776 (read 1770) may relat e to the property he sold in 1778--Resurvey on Owings Chance. Ther e is no indication that John Rinehart Replogle purchased the property-- and on e of the partys to the bond was Samuel Owings, Junr. of Baltimore.. Since we d on't have a purchase record, it was probably either an estate settlemen t, or a settlement in some other court action.." 29 Aug 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co MD: Jacob Replogle ["son of Rinehart and Barbara Replogle"] born. 13 Sep 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co, MD: Jacob Replogle ["son of Rinehart and Barbara Replogle"] baptised at Salem Reformed Church. T he Lutherans and German Reformed Churches very often shared ownership of a single church building. 24 Sep 1772: In the Reformed Church records of Hagerstown, Md., Daniel son of Rinehar t Replogle and Barbara his wife, born 24 Sep 1772 Bpt. 19 June 1773. 11 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: "In the land records of Frederick Co., Md. p. 265 is the Indenture made 11 Aug 1773 between Mathias Oatt (Ott) of Frederick Co., Md., farmer, and Rinehart Replogle, farmer, of the same Co. Mathias Oatt for 550 pounds current money of Maryland sold to Rinehart Replogle land called 'The Survey' -- patented by said Oatt 6th Sept. 1754. 150 acres. Signed Mathias Oatt. Wit: John Stull, William Baird." 23 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: The 11 Aug indenture was recorded. 14 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: A recorded indenture, where Rinehart Rapploogle sold to Mathias Smisser "Resurvey on Smith's Lot t" for 500 pounds. 29 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: Barbara, wife of Rinehart Rapploogle, relinquished her dower rights for sale 14 Nov 1774 to Mathi as Smisser. 1776, Frankstown Twp, Bedford Co, PA: Reynhart Rapelogle pa id three shillings provincial tax as an "inmate," a term which meant "renter." He probably moved from Frederick Co., MD to Frankstown Twp bet ween 1774 (when he sold his land Frederick Co) and 1776. "Prior to his residen ce in Bedford Co. (PA), he (John Rinehart Replogle) evidently lived for a per iod of time in the Hagerstown community of Maryland, coming there from Lancast er Co., or perhaps Lebanon Co., formerly the northern part of Lancaster Co., P A." 1777: One Bedford Co PA county history mentions that he and his family went through an Indian massacre. "Woodberry Twp. was organized 1 785. There were settlers in the Cove as early as 1760. In 1777 Indian hostilities were so frequent that nearly all the inhabitants left the (Morrison 's) Cove...Bloomfield Twp. was organized Dec. 8, 1876. Previou s to that date it was included in Woodberry Twp. The early settlers were chie fly of German descent, among the pioneers being Wagner, Bailey, Replogl e and Clapper families. Rinehart Replogle settled in the county before the close of the Revolution, one of his daughters was captu red by the Indian s, was with them some time, but finally escaped." 4 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: Indenture made between John Renard Replogle (wife, Barbara, relinquished her dower rights) and Ludwick Rimmel (or Kimble). John Renard Replogle sold Mr. Rimmel property named "Resurv ey on Owings Chance" for $500. Deed recorded 19 July 1778, Indenture 4 J une 1778. Rappleogle signed in German script. 19 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: 4 Jul indenture was recorded. 1778-1783: He and his sons "Adam and Reynard, Jr. Rephogal" are named on "List of soldiers who served as rangers on the frontiers, 1778-1783." His Revolutionary War service is private, Bedford Co, PA militi a, Captain Patrick Hainey's company. He is listed as Rinehart or Rinehart, Sr . on the following records: "Soldiers of the Revolution who received pay for t heir services;" "Soldiers who received depreciation pay as per cancelled certificates." 1779, Colerain Twp, Bedford Co, PA, known as Friend's Cove: Reinhart Rippleogle taxed for two horses, and for one cow. 1778-1783, Bedford Co, PA: Reynard Rephogal, and his sons Reynard Rephogal, Jr. and Adam Rephogal served as rangers on the frontier. 1780: "...Original documents in our custody, indicating that a certificate of public debt, Number 3492, in the amount of 7.10.0 (pound s) was issued in the name of Rynard Replogal, for a tour of Active Duty in t he Bedford County Militia, which he performed as a member of Captain Samuel Moore's Company during the period May 15 - July 15, 1780." PA Historical and Museum Commission. 1783, Frankstown Twp, Bedford Co PA : Rienhart Rippliogle taxed for 300 acres. Also, "In 1783 Reinhart Ripleagle (evidently a misspelling) owned 360 acres of land in Friend's Cove and Reinhart Ripplogle 300 a cres in Frankstown township." 1784, Colerain Twp, Bedford Co PA: Rinhart Ripleogl taxed f or 360 acres, one house, ten white inhabitants. 26 Jan 1789, Woodberry Twp, Bedford Co PA: Rhinehart Rippleogle, and sons Adam Rippliogle and John Rippleo gle were "...made subject by law to the performance of militia duty." 1789: Rinehart Rapleogle taxed at Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co. PA. - 1789 assessments. 1790, the U.S. Census shows that Rinehart Repinogle resided at Bedford Co PA, as did his sons Rinehart (Jr.) and Adam. 1793: Rhinehart Riplogle, Sr. taxed at Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co., PA. - Assessment record. Spring, 1796, Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co PA: John Rinehart Replogle died. The site of his burial is unknown altho it has been the subjec t of speculation. Date unknown: "Record Book R., p. 130, Bedford Co., PA gives 'Rinehart Replogel' and 'Rinehart Rippleogel' as witnesses to a deed signed by the heirs of...John Brumbaugh." He appeared on the census of 1784 at Colerain Twp., Bedford Co., PA. He lived in 1789 at Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co., PA. He appeared on the census of 1790 at Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co., PA. John Rinehart's given name "may come from Johann-Reinhardt III. Graf von Hanau - Lichtenberg, who was the lord of the lutheran parish of Soultz until his death on the 28th of March 1736," according to Jean-Claude Streicher (e-mail, 15 Nov 1999). The entry in the church book for the death of Philip Reblogel, the father of John Rinehart Replogle, was written by John Rinehart Koenig, pastor.

11 Dec 1720: Godparents at the christening of Johannes Reinhard Reblogel were Reinhard Windus, saltbrewer of Soultz; Rudolph Spuri, shoemender of Soultz, not married; and Barbara Bochstatter [daughter of the deceased miller from Hoffen], not married. (From Lutheran Church parish records of Soultz Sous Forets, Alsace, France, now filed in the archives at Strasbourg, France.) The language of the family was German. For example, "Earl (Replogle) ...has a German bible with some records written by Chris Replogel over 100 years ago, in German long hand..."

8 Oct 1753, Hanover, York Co., PA: Reinhard Reblagel m.

But according to his age given in tax records at Bedford Co., PA, he was b. in 1763.

1764: According to family tradition and a county history, John Rinehart Replogle had fourteen children. But a possible additional child may be Anna Barbara Replogle, who m. Jacob Schreyer on 27 Aug 1764, at Hanover, York Co., PA, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Her surname was spelled Reblegel on the church record. If Anna Barbara was not a child of John Rinehart Replogle, then she could have been a close relative, such as John Rinehart's sister. She is identified there in this genealogy of the family.

17 May 1767, York Co., PA: Maria Eva Reblogel christened ["dau of Reinhardt and Barbara Reblogel"] at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Littlestown (Adams Co) PA. (Note: Source should have given York Co PA rather than Adams Co PA. Adams Co PA was created from York Co PA in 1800.)

11 Apr 1770, Frederick Co MD: Bond for credit between John Rinehart Rippleogle and others, all of Frederick Co MD, farmers. "Anthony Havely, John Rinehart Rippleogle, Stephen Wible, John Welty, Philip Nell, Peter Coonce, John Grouce, all of Frederick County, Farmers, and Samuel Givings of Baltimore County, Gentlem(a)n, are held and firmly bound to Robert Couden and John Clapham, Commissioners, for emitting bills of credit established by the act of Assembly of the Province of Maryland in the sum of 450 pounds stirling to be paid to said commissioners ... bond for 450 pounds at rate mentioned in above act ... at 4 % per annum ... " "..None of the cosigners have names common in Frederick Co.-- except for Coonce (Koontz, Coons, etc.) and they may have comprised several families. A Peter Coonce estate was administered in Frederick Co in the 1780's, I have an index notation of it.. Welty also appeared frequently in the records.. On the 1790 census records Philip Nell and John Welty can be found in Frederick Co..It appears that the bond of 1776 (read 1770) may relate to the property he sold in 1778--Resurvey on Owings Chance. There is no indication that John Rinehart Replogle purchased the property-- and one of the partys to the bond was Samuel Owings, Junr. of Baltimore.. Since we don't have a purchase record, it was probably either an estate settlement, or a settlement in some other court action.."

29 Aug 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co MD: Jacob Replogle ["son of Rinehart and Barbara Replogle"] born.

13 Sep 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co., MD: Jacob Replogle ["son of Rinehart and Barbara Replogle"] baptised at Salem Reformed Church. The Lutherans and German Reformed Churches very often shared ownership of a single church building.

Wit: John Stull, William Baird."

23 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: The 11 Aug indenture was recorded.

14 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: A recorded indenture, where Rinehart Rapploogle sold to Mathias Smisser "Resurvey on Smith's Lott" for 500 pounds.

29 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: Barbara, wife of Rinehart Rapploogle, relinquished her dower rights for sale 14 Nov 1774 to Mathias Smisser.

1776, Frankstown Twp, Bedford Co., PA: Reynhart Rapelogle paid three shillings provincial tax as an "inmate," a term which meant "renter." He probably moved from Frederick Co., MD to Frankstown Twp between 1774 (when he sold his land Frederick Co) and 1776. "Prior to his residence in Bedford Co. (PA), he (John Rinehart Replogle) evidently lived for a period of time in the Hagerstown community of Maryland, coming there from Lancaster Co., or perhaps Lebanon Co., formerly the northern part of Lancaster Co., PA."

1777: One Bedford Co PA county history mentions that he and his family went through an Indian massacre. "Woodberry Twp. was organized 1785. There were settlers in the Cove as early as 1760. In 1777 Indian hostilities were so frequent that nearly all the inhabitants left the (Morrison's) Cove...Bloomfield Twp. was organized Dec. 8, 1876. Previous to that date it was included in Woodberry Twp. The early settlers were chiefly of German descent, among the pioneers being Wagner, Bailey, Replogle and Clapper families. Rinehart Replogle settled in the county before the close of the Revolution, one of his daughters was captured by the Indians, was with them some time, but finally escaped."

4 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: Indenture made between John Renard Replogle (wife, Barbara, relinquished her dower rights) and Ludwick Rimmel (or Kimble). John Renard Replogle sold Mr. Rimmel property named "Resurvey on Owings Chance" for $500. Deed recorded 19 July 1778, Indenture 4 June 1778. Rappleogle signed in German script.

19 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: 4 Jul indenture was recorded.

1778-1783: He and his sons "Adam and Reynard, Jr. Rephogal" are named on "List of soldiers who served as rangers on the frontiers, 1778-1783." His Revolutionary War service is private, Bedford Co., PA militia, Captain Patrick Hainey's company. He is listed as Rinehart or Rinehart, Sr. on the following records: "Soldiers of the Revolution who received pay for their services;" "Soldiers who received depreciation pay as per cancelled certificates."

1779, Colerain Twp, Bedford Co., PA, known as Friend's Cove: Reinhart Rippleogle taxed for two horses, and for one cow.

1778-1783, Bedford Co., PA: Reynard Rephogal, and his sons Reynard Rephogal, Jr. and Adam Rephogal served as rangers on the frontier.

1780: "...Original documents in our custody, indicating that a certificate of public debt, Number 3492, in the amount of 7.10.0 (pounds) was issued in the name of Rynard Replogal, for a tour of Active Duty in the Bedford County Militia, which he performed as a member of Captain Samuel Moore's Company during the period May 15 - July 15, 1780." PA Historical and Museum Commission.

1783, Frankstown Twp, Bedford Co PA : Rienhart Rippliogle taxed for 300 acres. Also, "In 1783 Reinhart Ripleagle (evidently a misspelling) owned 360 acres of land in Friend's Cove and Reinhart Ripplogle 300 acres in Frankstown township."

1784, Colerain Twp, Bedford Co PA: Rinhart Ripleogl taxed for 360 acres, one house, ten white inhabitants.

26 Jan 1789, Woodberry Twp, Bedford Co PA: Rhinehart Rippleogle, and sons Adam Rippliogle and John Rippleogle were "...made subject by law to the performance of militia duty."

1789: Rinehart Rapleogle taxed at Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co. PA. - 1789 assessments.

1790, the U.S. Census shows that Rinehart Repinogle resided at Bedford Co PA, as did his sons Rinehart (Jr.) and Adam.

1793: Rhinehart Riplogle, Sr. taxed at Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co., PA. - Assessment record.

Spring, 1796, Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co PA: John Rinehart Replogle died. The site of his burial is unknown altho it has been the subject of speculation.

Date unknown: "Record Book R., p. 130, Bedford Co., PA gives 'Rinehart Replogel' and 'Rinehart Rippleogel' as witnesses to a deed signed by the heirs of...John Brumbaugh."

(Ott) of Frederick
Co., Md., farmer, and Rinehart Replogle, farmer, of the same
Co. Mathias Oatt
for 550 pounds current money of Maryland sold to Rinehart
Replogle land called
'The Survey' -- patented by said Oatt 6th Sept. 1754. 150
acres. Signed
Mathias Oatt. Wit: John Stull, William Baird."
23 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: The 11 Aug indenture was
recorded.
14 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: A recorded indenture, where
Rinehart
Rapploogle sold to Mathias Smisser "Resurvey on Smith's Lott"
for 500 pounds.
29 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: Barbara, wife of Rinehart
Rapploogle,
relinquished her dower rights for sale 14 Nov 1774 to Mathias
Smisser.
1776, Frankstown Twp., Bedford Co, PA: Reynhart Rapelogle paid
three
shillings provincial tax as an "inmate," a term which meant
"renter." He
probably moved from Frederick Co., MD to Frankstown Twp between
1774 (when he
sold his land Frederick Co) and 1776. "Prior to his residence
in Bedford Co.
(PA), he (John Rinehart Replogle) evidently lived for a period
of time in the
Hagerstown community of Maryland, coming there from Lancaster
Co., or perhaps
Lebanon Co., formerly the northern part of Lancaster Co., PA."
1777: One Bedford Co PA county history mentions that he and
his family went
through an Indian massacre. "Woodberry Twp. was organized 1785.
There were
settlers in the Cove as early as 1760. In 1777 Indian
hostilities were so
frequent that nearly all the inhabitants left the (Morrison's)
Cove...Bloomfield Twp. was organized Dec. 8, 1876. Previous to
that date it
was included in Woodberry Twp. The early settlers were chiefly
of German
descent, among the pioneers being Wagner, Bailey, Replogle and
Clapper
families. Rinehart Replogle settled in the county before the
close of the
Revolution, one of his daughters was captured by the Indians,
was with them
some time, but finally escaped."
4 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: Indenture made between John
Renard Replogle
(wife, Barbara, relinquished her dower rights) and Ludwick
Rimmel (or Kimble).
John Renard Replogle sold Mr. Rimmel property named "Resurvey
on Owings
Chance" for $500. Deed recorded 19 July 1778, Indenture 4 June
1778.
Rappleogle signed in German script.
19 Jul 1778, Frederick Co MD: 4 Jul indenture was recorded.
1778-1783: He and his sons "Adam and Reynard, Jr. Rephogal"
are named on
"List of soldiers who served as rangers on the frontiers,
1778-1783." His
Revolutionary War service is private, Bedford Co, PA militia,
Captain Patrick
Hainey's company. He is listed as Rinehart or Rinehart, Sr. on
the following
records: "Soldiers of the Revolution who received pay for their
services;"
"Soldiers who received depreciation pay as per cancelled
certificates."
1779, Colerain Twp., Bedford Co, PA, known as Friend's Cove:
Reinhart
Rippleogle taxed for two horses, and for one cow.
1778-1783, Bedford Co, PA: Reynard Rephogal, and his sons
Reynard Rephogal,
Jr. and Adam Rephogal served as rangers on the frontier.
1780: "...Original documents in our custody, indicating that
a certificate
of public debt, Number 3492, in the amount of 7.10.0 (pounds)
was issued in
the name of Rynard Replogal, for a tour of Active Duty in the
Bedford County
Militia, which he performed as a member of Captain Samuel
Moore's Company
during the period May 15 - July 15, 1780." PA Historical and
Museum Commission.
1783, Frankstown Twp., Bedford Co PA : Rienhart Rippliogle
taxed for 300
acres. Also, "In 1783 Reinhart Ripleagle (evidently a
misspelling) owned 360
acres of land in Friend's Cove and Reinhart Ripplogle 300 acres
in Frankstown
township."
1784, Colerain Twp., Bedford Co PA: Rinhart Ripleogl taxed for
360 acres, one
house, ten white inhabitants.
26 Jan 1789, Woodberry Twp., Bedford Co PA: Rhinehart
Rippleogle, and sons
Adam Rippliogle and John Rippleogle were "...made subject by
law to the
performance of militia duty."
1789: Rinehart Rapleogle taxed at Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co.
PA. - 1789
assessments.
1790, the U.S. Census shows that Rinehart Repinogle resided
at Bedford Co
PA, as did his sons Rinehart (Jr.) and Adam.
1793: Rhinehart Riplogle, Sr. taxed at Woodbury Twp., Bedford
Co., PA. -
Assessment record.
Spring, 1796, Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co PA: John Rinehart
Replogle died. The
site of his burial is unknown altho it has been the subject of
speculation.
Date unknown: "Record Book R., p. 130, Bedford Co., PA gives
'Rinehart
Replogel' and 'Rinehart Rippleogel' as witnesses to a deed
signed by the heirs
of...John Brumbaugh."

"...Original record of tax of Woodberry Twp., Bedford Co... in
that record the tax collector noted the ages of some of the tax
payers, including: Rinehart Rapogle Sr. 'on Wollis's Land'
476 (acres); Rinehart Rapogle Jurn on Walliss's Land (age) 26."

Find A Grave contributor Laurie (Thompson) Mercer has made a suggestion to you (12-3-13) regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Johannes Reblogel.

Their suggestion:
-------------------------
Child #1 and child #4 have the same name, the same birth month and both died on 10 Oct. Is this the same person? Also, the male child born to spouse #2 was born the same year as female child #1. Seems unlikely.

Too much contradictory information for a findagrave memorial. Should only list birth and death, burial info, spouses, and CONFIRMED children.

BIRTH 8 Dec 1720

BURIAL

This man is one of my 5th grandfather's and apparently one of my earliest arrivals to America. If not an ancestor of yours and I see you inherited it from another, I'd appreciate a transfer to my hands. Regardless if it was you or the original person who posted all that data it is quite impressive.

Thank you,

He appeared on the census of 1784 at Colerain Twp., Bedford Co., PA.

24 Sep 1772: In the Reformed Church records of Hagerstown, Md., Daniel son of Rinehart Replogle and Barbara his wife, born 24 Sep 1772 Bpt.

Wit: John Stull, William Baird."

23 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: The 11 Aug indenture was recorded.

14 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: A recorded indenture, where Rinehart Rapploogle sold to Mathias Smisser "Resurvey on Smith's Lott" for 500 pounds.

29 Nov 1774, Frederick Co MD: Barbara, wife of Rinehart Rapploogle, relinquished her dower rights for sale 14 Nov 1774 to Mathias Smisser.

John Rinehart's given name "may come from Johann-Reinhardt III.
Graf von Hanau - Lichtenberg, who was the lord of the lutheran
parish of Soultz until his death on the 28th of March 1736,"
according to Jean-Claude Streicher (e-mail, 15 Nov 1999).
The entry in the church book for the death of Philip Reblogel,
the father of
John Rinehart Replogle, was written by John Rinehart Koenig,
pastor.
11 Dec 1720: Godparents at the christening of Johannes
Reinhard Reblogel
were Reinhard Windus, saltbrewer of Soultz; Rudolph Spuri,
shoemender of
Soultz, not married; and Barbara Bochstatter [daughter of the
deceased miller
from Hoffen], not married. (From Lutheran Church parish records
of Soultz Sous
Forets, Alsace, France, now filed in the archives at
Strasbourg, France.) The
language of the family was German. For example, "Earl
(Replogle) ...has a
German bible with some records written by Chris Replogel over
100 years ago,
in German long hand..."
8 Oct 1753, Hanover, York Co, PA: Reinhard Reblagel m.
Barbara Konig at St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church. She was the dau of Abraham Konig
(Koenig, King) who
immigrated to America in 1751.
1759-1763: His son Rinehart (Jr.) is reported to be born at
Berks Co., Pa.,
what is now Lancaster Co. PA, in 1759. But according to his age
given in tax
records at Bedford Co., PA, he was b. in 1763.
1764: According to family tradition and a county history,
John Rinehart
Replogle had fourteen children. But a possible additional child
may be Anna
Barbara Replogle, who m. Jacob Schreyer on 27 Aug 1764, at
Hanover, York Co,
PA, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Her surname was spelled
Reblegel on the
church record. If Anna Barbara was not a child of John Rinehart
Replogle, then
she could have been a close relative, such as John Rinehart's
sister. She is
identified there in this genealogy of the family.
17 May 1767, York Co, PA: Maria Eva Reblogel christened ["dau
of Reinhardt
and Barbara Reblogel"] at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran
Church at
Littlestown (Adams Co) PA. (Note: Source should have given York
Co PA rather
than Adams Co PA. Adams Co PA was created from York Co PA in
1800.)
11 Apr 1770, Frederick Co MD: Bond for credit between John
Rinehart
Rippleogle and others, all of Frederick Co MD, farmers.
"Anthony Havely, John
Rinehart Rippleogle, Stephen Wible, John Welty, Philip Nell,
Peter Coonce,
John Grouce, all of Frederick County, Farmers, and Samuel
Givings of Baltimore
County, Gentlem(a)n, are held and firmly bound to Robert Couden
and John
Clapham, Commissioners, for emitting bills of credit
established by the act of
Assembly of the Province of Maryland in the sum of 450 pounds
stirling to be
paid to said commissioners ... bond for 450 pounds at rate
mentioned in above
act ... at 4 % per annum ... "
"..None of the cosigners have names common in Frederick Co.--
except for
Coonce (Koontz, Coons, etc.) and they may have comprised
several families. A
Peter Coonce estate was administered in Frederick Co in the
1780's, I have an
index notation of it.. Welty also appeared frequently in the
records.. On the
1790 census records Philip Nell and John Welty can be found in
Frederick
Co..It appears that the bond of 1776 (read 1770) may relate to
the
property he sold in 1778--Resurvey on Owings Chance. There is
no indication
that John Rinehart Replogle purchased the property-- and one of
the partys to
the bond was Samuel Owings, Junr. of Baltimore.. Since we don't
have a
purchase record, it was probably either an estate settlement,
or a settlement
in some other court action.."
29 Aug 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co MD: Jacob Replogle
["son of Rinehart
and Barbara Replogle"] born.
13 Sep 1771, Hagerstown, Frederick Co, MD: Jacob Replogle
["son of Rinehart
and Barbara Replogle"] baptised at Salem Reformed Church. The
Lutherans and
German Reformed Churches very often shared ownership of a
single church
building.
24 Sep 1772: In the Reformed Church records of Hagerstown,
Md., Daniel son
of Rinehart Replogle and Barbara his wife, born 24 Sep 1772
Bpt. 19 June 1773.
11 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: "In the land records of
Frederick Co., Md. p.
265 is the Indenture made 11 Aug 1773 between Mathias Oatt
(Ott) of Frederick
Co., Md., farmer, and Rinehart Replogle, farmer, of the same
Co. Mathias Oatt

Replogle land called
'The Survey' -- patented by said Oatt 6th Sept. 1754. 150
acres. Signed
Mathias Oatt. Wit: John Stull, William Baird."
23 Aug 1773, Frederick Co MD: The 11 Aug indenture was
recorded.

Rinehart
Rapploogle sold to Mathias Smisser "Resurvey on Smith's Lott"
for 500 pounds.

Rapploogle,
relinquished her dower rights for sale 14 Nov 1774 to Mathias

was with them

Find A Grave contributor Laurie (Thompson) Mercer has made a suggestion to you (12-3-13) regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Johannes Reblogel.

Their suggestion:
-------------------------
Child #1 and child #4 have the same name, the same birth month and both died on 10 Oct. Is this the same person? Also, the male child born to spouse #2 was born the same year as female child #1. Seems unlikely.

Too much contradictory information for a findagrave memorial. Should only list birth and death, burial info, spouses, and CONFIRMED children.

This man is one of my 5th grandfather's and apparently one of my earliest arrivals to America. If not an ancestor of yours and I see you inherited it from another, I'd appreciate a transfer to my hands. Regardless if it was you or the original person who posted all that data it is quite impressive.

Thank you,
