F. G. Haselby Found Dead At Star City: Winamac- Firman Griffith Haselby, 71, of Rt. 1, Star City, was found dead about 10 a.m. Wednesday by a son in a barn near his home. He apparently died about 7 a.m. Wednesday. Max Frain, deputy Pulaski County corner, said death was self-inflicted, from strangulation due to hanging. He had been in failing for two years. Born Aug. 10, 1897, at Grass Creek, he was the son of Henry and Martha Griffith Haselby. His marriage in January of 1918 at Grass Creek was to Hazel Blanch Hiatt, who died Aug, 13, 1958. He had lived in the Star City City community since 1929. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge of Logansport. Survivors include five daughters and five sons, Mrs. Verla Bonnell of Winamac, Mrs. Marie Zeider of Royal Center, Mrs. Bernice Kapper of Star City, Mrs. Charlotte Blinn of Star City and Mrs. Carol Danruther of Brook; Johnnie Haselby of Camp Springs, Md., Harlon and Ivan, both of Star City, Robert of Kewanna and Burnis of Royal Center; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vervia Hiatt of Royal Center, Mrs. Hannah Hughes of Laurel, Fla., and Mrs. Mabel Campbell of Tampa, Fla. Two sons preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at the Star City United Methodist Church Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Covey will officiate and burial will be in the Star City IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fry and Lange Funeral Home after noon Friday and at the church an hour before services.
