Jose died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from rifle fire during an engagement with enemy forces 5 kilometers Northwest of the Cua Viet River mouth. He was e participating in Operation Fortress Ridge.
Jose was living with his sister as both parents were deceased. Survived by his sister, Rosa Medel Mendoza of Compton, California.
Deceased parents were Ladislao and Rosa M Gonzalez.
