Harriett M. Smith, 88, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Belton, Missouri, having moved to the Kansas City area a year ago. Visitation Thursday 5-7 pm at Headley Funeral Chapel and graveside 10 am Friday, September 7, 2012, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the 12th Street entrance. Harriett was born in Neodesha, Kansas on November 27, 1923, to the late Gladys (Ballard) and Oburn Ioe Bryan. She had worked as a nurses aide at Walnut Valley Manor and was a homemaker. At Newton she married Lee Elliott in 1943. On May 23, 2001 she married Harvey Smith in Augusta. They both preceded her in death. Brothers, Robert, Charles and "KecK" Bryan also preceded her. She is survived by: step sons, Gary, Tim and Roger Smith; step daughters, Twila Peterson and Tammy Moeller; a sister in law Irma Bryan of Augusta; first cousins, Roberta January, of Raymore, MO, and Ruby Kirk, of Neodesha, KS; and several step granchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial donations to First Christian Church, Augusta.
