German Royalty. Abbess in Quedlinburg. Only daughter of Emperor Heinrich III. and his first wife Gunnhilde daughter of King Knud II "the Great". Her father designated her in January 1043 to succeed Abbess Adelheid I. regardless of the fact that the nuns there had the right to elect their Abbess. On June 24. 1044 she was ordained Abbess of Quedlinburg and Gandersheim.
