He was the son of the late Thomas and Amelia Brannan Reed, members of large and prominent Scott county families.
Mr. Reed was a member of the Baptist church and was very active in political matters.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ollie Sanders Reed, a daughter, Miss Kathleen Reed, of Gate City; two brothers, Holdway, also of Gate City, and Rufus G., of Johnson City.
Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. J. B. Craft and Rev. S. O. Frye officiating. Burial will be in the Holston View cemetery.
