George was the youngest child of Henry and Nancy Filler Snoots. As a young man he learned blacksmithing from his older brother Add. During the Civil War George was a musician in the 160th Ohio Inf. Co. E. His obit says that he was "one of the pioneer band boys of Adamsville" and the local band played at his funeral for that reason.
George was survived by his wife, the former Martha Ellen Shoemaker; his children Jennie Jones, Bessie Wyland, Rev. Frank, Mary Mathews, Charles, Sgt. Bruce and Emmett; 8 grandchildren; and siblings John Snoots, Emily Bainter and Sarah Harress.
