Morris attended the Clearwater schools and graduated from Clearwater High School and it was while attending Citadel College in Charleston, South Carolina that he met Mary Creech from Denmark, South Carolina and they were married in 1960.
When Morris arrived in Vietnam, he was assigned to 1st Platoon, Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Morris died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire, during combat at Hill 778 and 12 kilometers west northwest of Khe Sanh, during Operation Beacon Star.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his wife, Mary Creech Dixon, and his parents; Mr and Mrs Morris Dixon Sr and his sister; Brenda Morris, all of 1517 West Virginia Lane, Clearwater, Florida and his grandparents; Ivan and Albena Brady.
