She was born Sept. 26, 1913, in American Falls, Idaho. where she spent her early youth. She was the oldest of 8 children born to Clifton and Velma Morgan. She grew up with many responsibilities; helping on the family farm, caring for younger siblings and helping with household chores in the days of horse and buggy and without modern appliances.
Lorene married Ralph Nelson Burt on April 18, 1941, in Boise, Idaho, and were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1947. The young family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1943 where Ralph worked in construction while running a small farm. Eventually, Ralph began farming full time by clearing land and carving out a family farm where they raised their 8 children.
Lorene's life was one of service to her family and those around her. She was active in the LDS Church and served in many capacities including in the Primary and as Relief Society president. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who were close to her.
Lorene is survived by 7 of her children:
Sandra (Dave) Szendre, Nauvoo, IL;
Larry (Kerry) Burt, Springville, UT;
Ronald (Charyse) Burt, Kennewick;
Diane (Ben) Card, Mapleton, UT;
Shirlene (David) Stoddard, Pendleton, OR;
Clifton (Terri) Burt, Kennewick;
Jerry (Marjo) Burt, Kennewick.
Lorene also has 31 grandchildren, and 68 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 younger brothers: Gene Morgan and Lynn Morgan, residing in Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the LDS chapel on 45th and Olympia in Kennewick. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 that morning.
