Dorothy was born June 17, 1928 in Burke, the daughter of Clarence & Mina (Dufrance) Wood. She attended local schools and graduated from Franklin Academy, Malone.
On August 9, 1947 she united into marriage to Lloyd Dumars, he predeceased her September 11, 1999. She was a homemaker who found great enjoyment crocheting, embroidering, collecting antique dishes, rooster figurines, and taking the time to sit and relax to watch her favorite TV shows. However time spent with her children and grandchildren were moments she truly treasured the most.
Besides her parents and her husband; a son, Phillips Dumars; son-in-law Gary Powers; her sisters, Ella McDonald and Jane Wood; and her brothers, Erwin Wood and Donald Wood predeceased her.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd (Ruth) Dumars of Peru, Lyle (Dena) Dumars of Dexter, New Mexico, Craig (Diane) Dumars of Bombay, Deborah Powers of Moira, Dorothy (Vernon) Williams of Malone, and Valerie Dumars, of Bombay, with whom she made her home with; a sister-in-law, Leora LaMay; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive Dorothy.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Flint Funeral Home. Wednesday (Sept. 19, 2012) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral services honoring the life of Dorothy will commence at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Burke Center Cemetery where Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Lloyd.
