Saint Brannoc
Birth: unknown
Death: unknown

Pre-congregation Saint. Tradition has a monk called Brannoc migrating from South Wales during the 6th century AD to Devon, were he established a monastery at Braunton. He was credited with building oratories near the rivers Cleddau, Gwaun, and Caman and at the foot of Mynydd Carningli (Mountain of the Angels). The traditions concerning him are confused, however, some hagiographers identify him as the 6th-century missionary Saint Brynach. Braunton celebrates St Brannock's Day June 26, but Exeter Cathedral celebrates his feast day on January 7 and April 7. The latter may be related to Saint Brynach whose feast day is April 7. His name has also been recorded as Barnoc, Branoc or Brannocus, and he was found in the Book of Saints by the Monks of Ramsgate. (bio by: Iola)
