DEWBERRY, MR. JAMES WILKINSON, age 88, of Mountain Brook, died Thursday, October 24, 1996. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood.
Mr. Dewberry was a graduate of the University of Alabama where he received his B.S. degree in Commerce. He was a member of ODK and the Scabbard & Blade Honorary Societies and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. While in college, he served as the Business Manager of the Crimson & White student newspaper. Mr. Dewberry was employed by Firestone from 1932 until 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer at Mabry Ordinance Shop in Austin, Texas. While serving, he was honored with the Legion of Merit Award. Mr. Dewberry moved to Bir-mingham in 1946 and was President of Dewberry Engraving Company until 1990. He has received the American Legionaires National Citation Award for Outstanding Employer of the Handicapped in 1964. He was also an apartment and commercial real estate developer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Elliott Dewberry and is survived by three sons, James W. and Sallie L. Dewberry, Jr., J. Ralph and Anne Y. Dewberry, Richard E. and Rita F. Dewberry, all of Birmingham; sister, Amy Dewberry Oxford, Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Cathy Dewberry Latham, Montgomery, Elizabeth Dewberry, St. Charles, La., James W. Dewberry, III, Atlanta, Ga., Amy Dewberry Hancock, Monterey, Calif., Rebecca Dewberry Haeck, Portsmouth, R. I., Carolyn Dewberry Cooper, Birmingham, John R. Dewberry, Jr., Birmingham, Jack F.
