WORCESTER, NY — Valentine F. Michels, 81, of Worcester passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Brooklyn, the son of Valentine and Augusta (Gruber) Michelitsch.

Valentine was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II.

He was a cost estimator of Sperry Gyroscope in Great Neck and moved to the Worcester area in 1991.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Gate of Heaven Council in Huntington, and attended St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester.

Valentine will be dearly missed by his family who survives him, his wife of 56 years, Marie (Lobe) Michels of Worcester; two daughters, Valerie and husband Robert, Capon of Mastic Beach, and Linda and husband Mike, Fiorentino of East Worcester; grandchildren, Tracy Kimball, Carrie Kleinman, Jessica Capon, Tara and Heather Fiorentino; great-grandson, Kody Kimball; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his son, William Michels.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the E.J. Skinner Co., Funeral Chapel in Worcester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant.

Burial with military honors will be at the East Worcester Cemetery at a later date.
