UNION CITY, Ind.--Forrest Burkett, 78, 424 N. Howard St., Union City, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1996, at Randolph County Hospital in Winchester. He was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Darke County, Ohio, to Frank and Tina Hart Burkett.
He worked 28 years at I&M Electric in Winchester before retiring in 1985. Since 1985, he had been a stain-glass artist. He was a member of Union City Elks Lodge 1534 and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Ullery Burkett; two sons, Kent Burkett of Clayton, Ohio, and Randall Burkett of Worcester, Mass.; two granddaughters; and one sister, Mabel Welch of Union City, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Kathleen Burkett; five brothers, Ralph, William, Clarence, Charles and Denver; and four sisters, Bertha Dawson, Elizabeth Carpenter, Ruth White and Margaret Wasson.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reichard Funeral Home, Union City, INd., with the Rev. Roberta Hart officiating. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where an Elks Lodge of Sorrow service will be at 7:30 p.m. (Indiana time).
