Funeral services for Mamie Francois Ponthier will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer with Father Edwin Rodriguez officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Hessmer. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mrs. Ponthier, age 83, of Hessmer, passed away at Oak Haven Nursing Home in Effie on Oct. 9, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Francois and Winnie Juneau Francois, her husband Aloysius Ponthier, sons, Bruce Guillory, Aloysius Ponthier, Jr., Edward Ponthier and numerous siblings.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan Aymond of Iowa, LA, Jane Deshautelle of Hessmer, Janet Fuqua of Kolin, one sister, Geneva Paddie of Denham Springs, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the chapel.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 7:45 p.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.
