Death of Henry Lenahan. -Our citizens were shocked on Monday afternoon with the announcement that Henry Lenahan was dead. Although it was known that his health had been poor for some time past, none looked for so unwelcome an event as his death thus suddenly. Up to Friday last he was at his Store in apparently tolerable health.
Mr. Lenahan was one of the early settlers of Mineral Point, who, by industry and economy, had accumulated a handsome property, much of which he had invested in buildings and improvements well calculated to adorn our city. He scarcely lived to see the completion of the elegant block in which is located the Lenahan Hall, erected by the Lenahan Brothers during the past season.
Few men in our community enjoyed the confidence of the people more than did Henry Lenahan, none deserve it better. In his death our community loses a respected citizen, the poor a liberal benefactor, our City Council a worthy member, and his family a kind and affectionate head. The sympathy of the community are with those who mourn his departure.
Mr. Lenahan's death occurred at 12 o'clock on Monday last, at the age of 46 years.
