Fr. Carl F. Pfister, O.Carm., who died on Thursday, November 11, 2004, in Englewood, New Jersey, at the age of 79. Born on June 7, 1925, in New Haven, CT, Fr. Carl was a member of the Carmelite Order; beloved son of the late Sebastian and Magdalene (Traub) Pfister, and his late sister Marie (Pfister) Birmingham and brother Paul. On June 7, 1949, Fr. Carl was ordained a Catholic priest in Washington, D.C. From 1970 and for the next four years Fr. Carl was a parochial vicar at Mt. Carmel Parish in Newport News, VA. From 1975 he became co-pastor at St. Joseph Church in Leavenworth, KS and from 1978 he was a parochial vicar at the combined parish of St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception.
In 1984, Fr. Carl began a ministry that would stretch for the next twelve years as chaplain at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leavenworth, KS.
