She was his third wife, the previous two having died in 1896 and 1930, respectively. Walter was quite a bit older than Madge, and died in office in 1947. She returned to Milwaukee, but didn't entirely give up politics as the newspapers of the day frequently carried stories of her lending support to people and causes she believed in.
She passed away due to heart failure in St. Joseph's Hospital. Her last known address: 830 East Mason, Apt 54.
*no confirmation of this marriage has yet been found; there was a Benjamin Risney living in Milwaukee in 1921 but by 1923 he was married to someone else and living on a farm in Iowa and died a few years later. The only other Risney family living in the Milwaukee area were his parents, they also returned to Iowa.
