Norma Ward Lundeen Holman, widow of two American senators, one of them Rufus C. Holman of Oregon, died Saturday in Arcata, Calif., where she had lived since 1978. Mrs. Holman was 87. She was a native of San Francisco and lived in Portland from 1944 to 1978.

Her firs husband, Sen. Ernest Lundeen, of the Farmer Labor Party in Minnesota, was killed in an airplane crash in 1940. After his death, she ran unsuccessfully for his Senate seat.

She married Holman in Minneapolis on July 4, 1944. He was elected to the Senate in 1938 and was defeated in the Republican primary in 1944 by Wayne L. Morse, then dean of the University of Oregon law school. Holman died in 1959.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Portland.

Mrs. Holman is survived by a son, Ernest Ward Lundeen, Eugene; a daughter, Joan Minkler, Arcata; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Paul's Chapel of the Redwoods in Arcata.
