Composer. He was influenced by composer Jean Sibelius and by Finnish folk music. His many art songs are highly regarded. Kuula was murdered in the wave of political reprisals following the end of Finland's Civil War. His masterpiece, the "Stabat Mater", was completed by others and performed after his death.
