He died at his Lake street residence Friday at 11:30 am and had been in ill health for the past two months. Death was due to a heart ailment.
Mr. Engler was born in Peshtigo, December 18, 1883 and in his early youth worked for Badger Paper Mills, Inc.
He was married to the former Luella Hurd on September 25, 1912 at Marinette. She died May 1, 1953. He had served on the Peshtigo city council during the 1930s, representing the city's first ward. For the past 21 years he was a contract mail truck carrier dispatching mail on the trains entering the city. During this time, he compiled a record of having never missed meeting the trains in his 21 years of service. He retired in October of this year.
He is survived by one son, Robert, Peshtigo; one stepbrother, Irving McNeil, Oconto; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Hipke, Peshtigo; Mrs. Nick Botzau, Marinette; Mrs. Fred Koeppen, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Frank Kern, Fort Dodge, Iowa; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Arnold Felker; Harry Felker, Max Obert, Joseph Johanek, Ben VanDenelzen and Herbert Anderson.
