Dock Beard Dies From Pistol Wounds Thursday
Dock Beard, 50, died at Columbia hospital from pistol shot wounds said to have been inflicted by Jesse Rowley, 40,in a fight in the Western part of Marion county. Reports of this fight are conflicting, but the trouble originated, it is reported, over the division of the crop made by Beard as tenant of the Rowley farm.The two farmer neighbors were
riding together in a truck and the men came to action near the home of Buddy Forbes, Beard being shot three times with a pistol by Rowley, who is a cripple and has only one arm. Rowley received several painful cuts from a knife at the hands of Beard and his 15-year old son. It was reported.
